The eagerly anticipated 2021 Hazardex Conference, Exhibition, and Awards took place in-person on 6 & 7 October 2021 at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, the elegant North Yorkshire spa town in north-east England. We are currently formatting the events for 2022 and will have more details shortly. Meanwhile, please mark 1st & 2nd March 2023 in your diary as we will be staging our 21st birthday event – Hazardex Live! – in Harrogate on those dates!
Despite the challenges posed during much of 2020 and 2021 as a result of the global COVID pandemic, the two-day event was held in-person and comprised a varied and quality conference programme focusing on Hazardous Area Operations and Process Safety, an exhibition consists of an array of hazardous industry companies and organisations, and the widely reputable Hazardex Awards for Excellence hosted during a Gala Dinner.
The Hazardex event has led the way since launching in 2002. The main focus of the event is the Conference which includes prominent high hazard industry stakeholders addressing the assembled professional audience. Recent events have included quality speakers from the UK Health & Safety Executive, Chemical Industry Association, IECEx, Chemical Business Association, Institute of Measurement & Control, UK Petroleum Industry Association, COMAH Competent Authority, EDF Energy, Environment Agency, Tank Storage Association, Sellafield, BASF, Total, CompEx, IChemE Safety Centre, British Standards Institute, BP, Lockheed Martin, and many more.
The free-to-attend Exhibition is another important element of the event with leading hazardous area sector companies displaying the latest products and services to visitors. Each event provides exceptional opportunities for networking, with attendees from government agencies, regulators, certification bodies & training providers, consultants and product manufacturers meeting up with senior engineers and safety managers from the high hazard and process industry owner/operators to share their experiences. Every aspect of the Hazardex event aims to strengthen and expand the community that looks to the Hazardex website and journal for industry intelligence and information.
The first night of the two-day event plays host to a drinks reception, Gala Dinner, and the prestigious Hazardex Awards for Excellence. The Hazardex awards programme has long been a benchmark for those supplying products, services and systems within hazardous areas. A range of companies are nominated each year across several categories with an additional category, the Delegates' Award, voted on by delegates and attendees at the Hazardex event to identify which of the nominees provides the overall best hazardous area sector product, system or service.
