3. Best Customer Service – A company or corporate division that has provided excellent customer service in the sector over the last two years.

3a.
Company: Dron & Dickson

For the last two years Dron & Dickson have undertaken a training & competence programme aimed at improving customer service and ensuring best in class advice. Being the only UK hazardous area electrical provider who supply both products and engineering capabilities it was deemed as vitally important that all of our customer facing staff were competent to offer an industry leading service to our customers ensuring the ongoing safety, technical capability and operational functionality of their purchased equipment.

For that reason all of Dron & Dickson’s customer facing staff including Sales, Business Development, Engineering Support, Specific Support Functions, Managers and Directors have undertaken at least the CompEx Foundation course (ExF). Indeed many of our staff have multiple CompEx qualifications with our Engineering Team either passed or in the process of going through the CompEx Responsible Person Course (Ex14) to add to their existing modules Ex1-Ex4. Our Technical Authority is also a member of the British Standards Steering Group for BS EN 60079 (Explosive Atmospheres).

The result is that over 80% of our staff now have a CompEx qualification with a clear understanding of the regulations, directives and standards associated with locations containing hazardous atmospheres and equipment within, which gives confidence and peace of mind to all stakeholders interacting with Dron & Dickson. We acknowledge the inherent risks of hazardous areas, recognising that supplied and installed products must be fit for purpose to avoid adverse events which supports our company purpose – ‘Everyone Home Safe’.

Company: Yokogawa RAP

This year, Yokogawa RAP provided customers with its Covid-19 knowledge and experience with the release of a free Covid-19 icon. At the start of the pandemic, Yokogawa RAP identified that high-risk plant activities have potentially become even more so due to the requirement to consider infection prevention in addition to the general risks associated with the job in hand, the conditions under which it is being undertaken and the tools being used. The team therefore provided customers, at no charge, the benefit of its Covid-19 knowledge and experience, new and old with the release of the free Covid-19 icon.

The Covid-19 icon, just like all the other RAP icons, is so much more than just an icon. Behind it sits a specific knowledge base that is instantly available, to ensure all considerations involving safe working in a Covid-19 environment are considered, including ensuring cleanliness, safe transport, safe movement, and team working. In fact, a multitude of factors can easily be considered, to reduce infection risk to being as low as reasonably possible (ALARP) during risk assessments and then implemented as required in work permits to ensure maximum safety. All of these are easy to manage, select and set by simple, intuitive steps to make it robust, fast, and friendly to use.

We understand that these are still difficult times, and this is a chance for us to rise to the challenge of helping to keep plants safe, whilst not asking our customers to incur an additional financial burden for the ability of doing so and enabling us to give back to those who have trusted us for so many years and over so many millions of hours of risk assessment and permitting work activities.
