The aim of this presentation is to provide an update by the Regulator on a number of key messages affecting Major Hazard industries and Operators of Essential Services across the Chemical and Energy sectors.

The Electrical, Control and Cyber Security (ECCS) team would also like take this opportunity to highlight changes in their approach in conducting COMAH inspections and explain new ways of working, like hybrid / remote interventions, identified as a direct result of the limitations imposed on us all by the global pandemic – COVID19.

Sarabjit Purewal OBE BSc PGDip CEng MIET is a Principal Specialist Inspector and the portfolio lead for cybersecurity and emerging technologies in the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Sarabjit started his career with the CEGB in the electricity supply industry working on automation of conventional and nuclear power plant. He later worked with Kennedy and Donkin Consulting Engineers as the engineering manager of the Power Group, and then with Mott MacDonald as divisional director, before moving to the Health and Safety Executive where he has worked on a number of technical areas, been an advisor to the Minister for health and safety, and led operational teams in the major hazards sector in the HSE. He was awarded an OBE for services to health and safety and cybersecurity in 2020. Sarabjit sits on a number of technical committees in the IET, RITICS and BSI GEL/065.
