Richard Hellebrand, Board Member of IMechE Process Industries Division - Institution of Mechanical Engineers, will be speaking at Hazardex in the Regions: Ellesmere Port on 17 September on Safety Critical Task Analysis for an upper tier COMAH site.

The presentation will cover what a Safety Critical Task Analysis is, how humans fail, how to perform a Safety Critical Task Analysis, a Human Error Checklist, Performance Influencing Factors, and a Case Study example from a Safety Critical Task Analysis carried out at a UK chemical plant.

About the speaker:

Richard Hellebrand has been a Chartered Mechanical Engineer since 1988 and has worked in the process industries for more than forty years. He is a Fellow of both IMechE and the Energy Institute. For much of his career, he was the Responsible Engineer at multi-plant sites manufacturing smokeless fuels, agrochemicals, speciality organic chemicals and polymers, delivering improvements in asset integrity, reliability, safety and energy efficiency.

He has extensive experience in operations, maintenance and projects for bulk materials handling, including silos. Richard currently leads Process Safety Management for Westlake Corporation’s chemical manufacturing plants across Europe and Asia Richard loves to collaborate with like-minded champions from other professional institutions, bodies and trade associations to share learning and reduce process safety risks.
