Rob Bevan, Workforce Development Manager for Cogent Skills, will be speaking at Hazardex in the Regions: Ellesmere Port on 17 September. He will be discussing the ways that the organisation are helping develop a competent workforce for high hazard industries.

This presentation will describe how Cogent Skills are supporting high hazard industries to upskill and demonstrate the competence of their frontline safety critical roles so they comply with regulatory requirements and operate and maintain their facilities to the highest standards.

Rob Bevan has extensive industry experience across the Industrial Chemicals and Oil and Gas sectors. Previous roles have included Shift Operations Manager, Manufacturing Production Manager and Site Learning Manager. Using his strong technical background Rob has held several senior learning and development roles including managing operations at a technical training provider.

More recently Rob spent 11 years in senior global management roles with Shell Downstream Manufacturing (DSM) and Projects and Technology (P&T) managing the implementation of a global standardised approach to competency development and assurance for over 20,000 frontline employees. He then worked as a Shell consultant with non-Shell businesses in India, Indonesia, Nigeria and lastly in Kuwait as a Competence and Change Manager for a refinery improvement programme.

Rob has taken this experience into his current role with Cogent Skills and is supporting a number of businesses to develop, implement and sustain competence management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and improve business performance.
