At Hazardex Live 2026, Hydrogen Scotland's Business Manager Sally Molyneux will be providing insights into hydrogen developments across Scotland.

Hydrogen deployments across Scotland in Aberdeen, Fife, and Orkney are providing key insights and experience with building supply, storage & demand. Decarbonising ‘hard to treat’ energy demands such as industry, responsive power, and heavy logistics all require the capacity and security of hydrogen supply with suitable hydrogen transportation and storage infrastructure. The integration of renewable energy with hydrogen storage can provide reliable feedstock for Power-to-X conversions which produce essential products including fertilisers, chemicals, and drop-in replacement e-fuels to displace unabated fossil fuels. The development of hydrogen transportation and storage infrastructure will play an essential role in providing security of energy supply for a fully decarbonised energy system and will be an enabler for Scotland to maximise renewables potential and export large scale clean hydrogen into wider UK and European markets.

About the speaker:

Sally Molyneux has been working in the hydrogen sector since 2021 after deciding to pivot toward the broader energy transition industry. Sally began her professional journey after earning a BSc in Geology from Keele University. She entered the oil industry as a mud logger, working offshore in the Republic of Congo and then pursued further education, completing an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience at University College Dublin. She then spent over five years working as a geoscientist at RPS Energy, organising international field courses for oil and gas clients to study geological outcrops. In 2019, Sally made a deliberate move away from the oil and gas industry to focus on the energy transition, studying for an MSc in Subsurface Energy Systems at Heriot-Watt University. She has since focused on hydrogen, with recent roles as Hydrogen and Thermal Storage Lead at Edinburgh-based Gravitricity and, most recently, as Clean Hydrogen Research Manager at Voltility.
