Hazardex Live 2026 Speaker - UK Energy Transition Outlook
At Hazardex Live 2026, Sam Jones, Market Manager, Project Assurance at DNV, will be presenting the company's latest UK Energy Transition Outlook report and provide comparisons of its forecast results with three key UK government targets.
Understanding the mix and how achievable net zero will be for the energy industries is vital to guide decisions and policy as we transition to a cleaner future. DNV produced its first Energy Transition Outlook in 2016 and has produced a UK specific version since 2022. These look at a single scenario based around multiple factors of policy, economics and technology deployment to give a realistic outcome of what the energy mix will be to 2050 and beyond. In this year’s UK Energy Transition Outlook report, DNV has focused on comparisons of its forecast results with three key UK government targets:
- Short term: Mission Control Clean Power 2030 — with a target to decarbonise the UK electricity system by 2030.
- Medium term: New Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of at least 81% emissions reduction by 2035 relative to 1990 levels.
- Long term: The UK’s legally binding target to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
