Christian Roder, Senior Explosion Protection Engineer at Nemko, will be presenting at Hazardex Live 2026 on the usage of IEC TS 60079-46 and the ignition hazard assessment for assemblies.

In the absence of harmonised European standards for complex assemblies, IEC TS 60079-46 serves as a valuable reference for manufacturers and notified bodies. Complementing this, EN ISO/IEC 80079-36 outlines the methodology for ignition hazard assessment (IHA) of non-electrical equipment. Together, they provide a robust framework for evaluating and documenting explosion protection in complex equipment systems. Their combined application enables manufacturers to justify conformity with essential health and safety requirements, even in the absence of harmonised standards.
